Our professional approach has led us to becoming the leading provider of professional music education.
Vlada’s Music Studio is committed to providing the highest quality music education in an enjoyable and comfortable atmosphere. Our main goal is to teach children to understand and enjoy music as well as to develop a love for Music throughout their life. For beginner students, lessons are based on a combination of popular and classical repertoire, focusing on learning notes, rhythm, musical terms, ear training, and famous composers. As students progress, they are offered to start the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) repertoire and prepare for the RCM exams. Outstanding students will be offered to participate in various competitions.
A graduate of the Lviv National Musical Academy (Ukraine), Vlada Popova holds a Master’s Degree in Music. After graduating in 1996, she was teaching piano at a College of Music in Ukraine and since 2006 in Canada. Every year her students win first awards and scholarships at Kiwanis Music Festival, Markham Music Festival, North York, and Yip's Music Festival. In 2012, one of her students took 1st place at the Canadian Music Competition in Toronto, and in 2020 one of them was accepted into the Music faculty at the University of Toronto. In 2022, one of the students received Honourable Mention in OMFA Provincial Finals and in 2023 another student was honoured to represent Kiwanis Music Festival at OMFA.
In 2024, a Level 10 student won the 1st place at Sea to Sky International Piano Music Competition and was honored to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.
After learning to play the piano with Vlada for 13 years, Maryanna Boyd is now in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Music program at the University of Toronto, specializing in Music Education. She is also looking forward to completing her ARCT program in piano this year. Playing piano from the early age of 4 years old, and picking up other instruments such as guitar and saxophone along the way, Maryanna has a big passion for music and enjoys passing on her love for the subject to her students.
Margaret learned to play the piano at the age of 5 and completed the Royal School of Music (London) Grade 8 at the age of 13. Her musical journey was mixed with her other academic pursuits with her obtaining a Doctoral Degree in Social Work and attending Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program. Her passion for music led her to obtaining a Master Degree in Arts in Music as well as attaining First Class Honor in Grade 10 at the Conservatory of Music (Canada) and Distinction in Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) piano performance.
Music for Margaret is more than learning to play an instrument. It is a life-long tool to connect with others using a universal language which touches the heart and soul of humankind. Margaret enjoys teaching piano and seeing students, young and old, develop this valuable means of expression.
Throughout her experience in piano teaching, Margaret believes that it is important to start from where the student is and know their strengths and challenges. Nothing is more rewarding than to see her students enjoy playing music and be confident to show others – and themselves- who they are and what they are capable of.
Margaret Lannon began her musical studies at age 13 in Toronto, and quickly excelled through the Royal Conservatory of Music piano program. At Western, she received piano instruction under the expertise of Dr. Sonja Behrens, and graduated with a Bachelor of Musical Arts in 1989. Margaret has experience teaching the rudiments of piano, and enjoys participating in musical ensembles.
